Gilchrist appeared wearing a white bullet-proof vest, which he very conspicuously wore on top of his clothes, as opposed to underneath.
This was a blundering, tone-deaf gimmick designed to garner sympathy, and it backfired. It's hard to feel sorry for him.

I don't feel sorry for Gilchrist. But if Morones won't even step into the ring with a guy who's become a caricature, he comes off as afraid to debate.
If he has such a strong case, let him get up there with Gilchrist and duke it out (verbally). The walk out was silly.

I agree, Jubal. I'd like to see an MSU speaker debate an opposition speaker, too. Until that happens, a group has no credibility intellectually.
The podium conveniently set up outside Gilchrist's room leads me to think Morones never intended to debate him.
All sizzle, no steak: that's the amnesty movement.
