As we prepare to take the Red County / OC Blog to the next level, I was working with one of my vendors, a software developer who is helping design the new website. We have been working together for several months but had never talked politics. I found it strange since my line of work was obvious and our project was called "Red County".
So after tap dancing around the issue for several months, I threw caution to the wind and violated rule number one of social etiquette; never discuss politics and religion with someone you don't know. I figure politics is now my business and I have to know where people stand... even my software developers.
Expecting to hear a rant from an iMac weilding, creative tree hugger who spends his spare time a G8 Summits protesting George Bush and globalization, I asked Mr. Developer where he fell on the political spectrum. I was pleasantly surprised. Turns out Mr. Developer, who lives in Levittown, Pennslyvania, not only understands where we're coming from on the center-right, but is also a pastor at the Oxford Valley Chapel AND is a big Huckabee fan.
"Huckabee?" I asked.
I mentioned Huckabee had been to Orange County a few times and had generated some buzz at a recent event. Mr. Developer had also heard of the Huckabee buzz and watched some YouTube videos of interviews on the not-so-Republican-friendly Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He did more research and dug up more interviews. Like many of you, he was impressed with Huckabee's ability to articulate clearly, his solid values, his poise under pressure, and his relaxed sense of humor.
I know this seems like a random post (and it is not intended as an endorsement of any kind), but I mention it because it was truly refreshing to meet a stranger who shares my sense of values, isn't a Republican-hater, and "gets" what were doing here at Red County. FYI, Mr. Developer is actually Jesse Gardner, founder of Plastic Mind Design (www.plasticmind.com). For you Huckabee fans out there, he has created a little site called www.ihearthuckabee.com. I encourage you to use it as a resource for all things Huckabee, including late breaking news, videos, images, and more.
If you listen to Huckabee speak you come away with little doubt that he is an honest and completely up front candidate who espouses strong conservative views. See for yourself.

I like the fact that Mike support private Social Security accounts. But he does not have a chance. I hope Mike Huckabee supporters will get on board the Ron Paul campaign because in the last 10 hours Ron Paul just raised more cash than Huckabee raised in 12 months.
Ron Paul is the only hope for keeping Hillary out of the White House.

With nine hours still to go, Ron Paul has raised north of $3 million dollars online so far today. He's raised almost six million dollars in the quarter with two months still to go. I'd say this is going to raise a few eyebrows.
