Steve Greenhut noticed the same lame-brained propaganda post from Calitics and Daily Kos concocting a new urban legend: the Santiago fire would have been contained sooner but for a anti-union, anti-tax conspiracy to defeat Measure d in 2005. Writes Steve:
One of their arguments: OC in 2005 rejected Measure D, which would have increased funding for firefighting. Well, it’s clear from reading the posts that these lefty critics don’t know anything about Measure D. Jubal at OCBlog deals with this point here. The lefties argue that the fires spread out of control because conservative counties shortchange government budgets. But D was about divvying up existing revenue streams. Had it passed, it would have taken money from the sheriff’s department and sent it to the firefighters. Would that then mean that the county was shortchanging law enforcement services?
You can read the whole post here.
Here's what one lefty commenter said on the Calitics post, taking a conservative to task:
Do you really not see the difference between blaming environmentalists for causing the Southern California fires and blaming a measure that specifically cut funding to fire departments for causing a very delayed response to that fire?
There are sites where you can be Rush Limbaugh's water boy and not be called on it. This is not one of them.
Apparently, one isn't called on it on Calitics either, because Measure D's defeat didn't "specifically cut funding to fire departments." In fact, it's defeat didn't cut anything. But the Lefty blog hive has made up its collective mind, so don't get in the way with any facts.
What would anyone expect? This is loretta's and her people's life's calling. Blame Bush. Blame the conservitives. Don't worry about solutions, just attack, attack, attack.

Yeah, I agree with Killerjoe. All the conservatives ever want to do is go out of their way to blame liberals for everything. Like blaming "damn environmentalists" and their "bad environmental policies." Michelle Malkin, a leading conservative blogger, echoed the complaint, pointing to "litigious environmentalists" for "standing in the way" of Bush's Healthy Forests Initiative.

Step away from the kool-aid, kettle. Take off those rose glasses, and take a deep breath. A reality check will work wonders for what ailes you.
