This came over the transom last night from the Steven Choi for Assembly campaign:
IRVINE COUNCILMEMBER STEVEN CHOI SUPPORTS ID FOR VOTING
Irvine, CA - In response to the Supreme Courts decision to hear a case regarding an Indiana law requiring identification at the ballot box, Irvine City Councilman Steven Choi released the following statement:
"Non-citizens and other ineligible individuals should never be allowed to vote in our elections," said Steven Choi. "One of the main reasons that these individuals can get away with voter fraud is that right here in California we do not require a picture identification to vote."
"In fact, it requires more identification to rent a movie than it does to cast a ballot in our elections. This is unacceptable. I support the Indiana law requiring identification at the polling place and pledge that my first priority when I'm elected to the Legislature will be to pass a law requiring identification to vote in each and every California election. Voting is a privilege for legally registered citizens of this state and to no one else. Period."
Steven
Choi, a conservative seeking the Republican nomination for the 71st
State Assembly District has serviced the City of Irvine as a Councilman
since 2004 and has lived in Irvine since 1993 with his wife, Janie and
two children, Daniel and Michelle.
Choi serves as a member of the Concordia University President's Advisory Council and is Irvine's representative to Growth Management Areas 4 & 9 and the Newport Bay Watershed Executive Committee. He attends Bethel Church in Irvine.
"I support the Indiana law requiring identification at the polling place and pledge that my first priority when I'm elected to the Legislature will be to pass a law requiring identification to vote in each and every California election."
Score one for Steven Choi. Anybody who is talking about strengthening our voting system and stopping illegal voters from disenfranshising legal voters is someone I'd consider voting for.
Choi still needs to raise more money but I haven't seen Blais take a principled position litke this in 10 press releases.
We have too many country club Republicans in the legislature who think that raising money and bowing to big business is all our party stands for.
