As we are about a few days before the CRP Fall Convention, I've been getting a lot of "communications" from various people, either running for office or supporting/opposing certain ballot measures and bylaws amendments.
One of those people is Steve Baric who is running for the position of CRP Secretary. So far, there is no other candidate running against Steve. The election for this position will not be held at the upcoming gathering in Indian Wells, but Steve is actively campaigning to secure support from the party leaders and to discourage any potential opponents. Already his candidacy is endorsed by Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, BOE Member Michelle Steel, Senator Ackerman, Assemblyman Villines, and at least 20 other GOP state legislators.
In Orange County, we often read about Steve Baric when there was a new twist or development in the legal dispute between the two Nguyens. Steve and Michael Schroeder are representing Trung Nguyen. However, his true claim to fame is being Chairman of the California Republican Lawyers Association (CRLA), an organization of conservative attorneys dedicated to making sure that elections are fraud-free.
I returned Steve Baric's endorsement card a few weeks ago and wish him nothing but success in his bid to become our next CRP Secretary.
I worked with Steve during the recount involving Trung Nguyen earlier this year. I found him to be of the highest integrity. He was steadfast in his commitment to ensure every vote counted, even when faced with obstacles and often unclear legal statutes.
His efforts to work with republicans to stop early prison release cemented that our party needs him in leadership.
He can call on me for support in this race or any other he chooses to pursue.
