I'll be placing my bets on Janet.

Jaime

I am happy to see that Trung is running for his "stolen" seat. All true Republicans now have responsibilty to elect Trung in coming election. May God bless Trung and his family.

Van's Man

If Van Tran was less selfish and more of a true leader he would put an end to this destructive campaign which is doing great harm to the GOP in central OC.

Over/Under

I say Janet wins by 4 votes this time.

You can't steal what isn't yours.

True Republicans are rather sick of the attacks on Republican Janet Nguyen by the other Nguyen who apparently is a rino. I think the true Republicans will vote for "less divide" and a classier approach..Janet!

Lam Pho

I will vote for one that truly qualifies for the position, which of course is neither Janet nor Trung. I hope those two kill each other, while the rest of Orange County can move on.

Paul Lucas

Here we go again.

Hey Paul

Hey Paul:

Why don't you run for this seat and see how good you are.

FYI from OC Registerr

Poll results: Janet v. Trung
In political campaigns, there are no unwritten rules. If it's not expressly prohibited, it's fair game. In recognition of that, Total Buzz congratulates Trung Nguyen for winning our poll -- and getting more than twice as many votes here as he got in the actual election. In losing, Janet Nguyen got nearly twice as many votes as she did on Feb. 6.

That February election for supervisor changed the way we think about central county elections. And this poll changes the way we here think about our fledgeling poll, designed strictly for entertainment purposes. We've decided to make it more challenging for a single person to vote hundreds or thousands of times. Stay tuned for Total Buzz Poll 2.0

-- Martin Wisckol

We are flattered that the Nguyens and their backers put so much effort into this.

The results as of 4:45 p..m.:

Trung Nguyen -- 25,696 (56%)
Janet Nguyen -- 19,908 (44%)

Long-time politico

Everybody get used to saying: 'Supervisor Dunn'. He will, no doubt, pen a polite thank you note to Van Tran for this opportunity for further public service. And thus will end another chapter in Republican fratricide.

Brett Nemeth

If this continues, I wouldn't support Van Tran for dog cather. And, I supported Van Tran in his past elections. I know I am a non factor, but I think there may be others who are just as concerned as me. My opinion of Michael Schroeder has sunk to new lows.

Re: Brett Nemeth

The decision to open a new committee and to run again is ultimately decided by one person - TRUNG NGUYEN.

It's not an easy decision to make as some of you know it takes a lot of hard work and money to run for office.

No one, not even Van Tran or Mike Schroeder force or encourage Trung Nguyen to give it another shot, but they will be supportive of his decision.

So Brett, before you make any further unfounded accusations, please try to understand the situation a little bit more by maybe talking to the people who are involved on both sides.

And ask yourself this - with Janet performance so far for the past 5 months beginning with the illegal legal defense fund, the wasteful spending of taxpayers money on expensive furniture, 52' flat screen TV and the questionable appointment of an "out of district" resident to the HBP Commission, is she the best candidate the GOP can rally behind and does Janet deserve to be re-elected?

Does Janet deserve to be re-elected? Yes.
Why? Because she risked her "life, fortune and future" to run for this seat and has spent the last few months fighting off the bulldogs that have been attacking her. Please remember that ALL THE OTHER SUPERVISORS WERE HAVING THEIR OLD DINGY OFFICES REFURBISHED AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME TECHNOLOGY AND BIG SCREENS and remember that those suggestions for the big screens came from the office designers, NOT FROM THE SUPERVISORS, MOST ALL OF WHOM HAVE NIXED THE IDEA OF THE BIG SCREENS, INCLUDING JANET.

Janet got bad advice on the legal defense fund, but then she doesn't get all that FREE LEGAL SERVICE THAT TRUNG IS GETTING, so she has to get what she can afford...which, with the debt imposed upon her by the Trung/Tran contingent is running up a rather large bill with more lawyers.

We will see who she appoints to the commission, I'm sure she's learning a few things - and I'm sure Trung would have had to learn a few things as well had he succeeded in stealing Janet's seat.

The Poll mentioned above was the kind that one person can call in 100 or 1,000 times to vote, so it is a useless poll as admitted by the newspaper its self.

I am so sorry to see the destruction and division bred by the Trung Team in our fragile Republican Party. After being a lifelong Republican it turns my stomach. I am almost feeling like Wiley Drake and about to go join a third party...which would be a VERY dramatic step for me. But don't count on it, I'll stick around through this next election just to help Janet and other worthy Republicans...then we will see....

What?

"...Because she risked her 'life, fortune and future' ..."

What life, fortune and future are you talking about?

"ALL THE OTHER SUPERVISORS WERE HAVING THEIR OLD DINGY OFFICES REFURBISHED AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME TECHNOLOGY AND BIG SCREENS.."

Did a Democrat Supervisor, Lou Correa, bring in his 26-inch TV to use during his 2-year tenure? Correa inherited the office from Chuck Smith without re-modeling it.

"... and remember that those suggestions for the big screens came from the office designers, NOT FROM THE SUPERVISORS..."

Again, my dog makes me do it. Wow!

"...MOST ALL OF WHOM HAVE NIXED THE IDEA OF THE BIG SCREENS, INCLUDING JANET..."

Did she issue a press release? I haven't seen it yet. Campbell and Norby didn't order one.

"...Janet got bad advice on the legal defense fund, but then she doesn't get all that FREE LEGAL SERVICE.."

So, if it is free it is BETTER. Then dump him/them, one needs not to hang on to a bad attorney. That would be her answer. She made many mistakes not the other way around.

"... I'm sure Trung would have had to learn a few things as well had he succeeded in stealing Janet's seat..."

I thought Trung won by 7 votes then lost to Janet. Who stole from whom?

"The Poll mentioned above was the kind that one person can call in 100 or 1,000 times to vote, so it is a useless poll as admitted by the newspaper its self."

I admitted that I agreed with you on this point. But it is still interesting to see either side spins it. OC Register might spin it differently if it was legit.

"...I am almost feeling like Wiley Drake and about to go join a third party...which would be a VERY dramatic step for me..."

Michael Bloomberg is cooking one and he is running up his party membership.

<<>>

What??? Excuse me??? that's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think? Ok, so let say she took a big risk to run for the office, so what? Does she even qualify? You think she DESERVES to be re-elected just because she took a risk? You're a Janet supporter and that's all you got. Unbelievable.

When anyone runs for office they risk their "life" (or quality thereof), "Fortune" because it costs about that and can cost you more as in Janet's case with the Trung lawsuits; and "future" because she knew she was running against a machine...and you know that.

That Lou brought in his TV was one of the reasons the designers decided to include TV's in the offices...

That Trung lost after a RECOUNT means Janet won and he didn't manage to "steal" the election from her...

Bloomberg isn't conservative enough for me.

Have a blessed day.

Oh Lam.....go read her Bio on the OC Suprvisors website..she's got more than that...I'm sure you know that.

If everyone had to "qualify" before they ran for office, we would have a lot of empty offices...I could name a few.

Lam Pho

"If everyone had to "qualify" before they ran for office, we would have a lot of empty offices...I could name a few"

So you basically admit that she doesn't qualify.

But anyway, the question was a simple one, why does Janet deserve to be re-elected and your answer was basically because she took a risk and has been fighting bulldogs. That's it?

Don't tell me to go read a website where no one could counter her claims. I know all about how she exaggerated her experiences and supports in her campaign flyers. Why should I trust the claims on her site?

I am not a Van or Trung supporter. I'm just a typical voter, now tell me why you think she deserves to be re-elected. List her accomplishments on here so others can add their voices.

"... and "future" because she knew she was running against a machine..."
You are dreaming. Tran's, Schroeder's and Nguyen's machine is nothing compare to Democrat's and union's machines which will be cranked up to unseat her.

"...and you know that."
Again, you are reading others' mind inaccurately.

"... That Lou brought in his TV was one of the reasons the designers decided to include TV's in the offices..."
Are the designers working for Orange County? Are they under supervision of the Board of Supervisors? Unless, the BoS run amok and now Janet Nguyen blamed them or others because they made a decision for her.

"...Bloomberg isn't conservative enough for me..."
Then, Janet Nguyen is conservative enough for YOU.

I agreed with Lam Pho that you're a Janet's supporter and that's all you got.

Supervisor Janet Nguyen continues to dedicate much of her time to different organizations throughout the County. She is currently a Board Member for the Center For a Brand New Day. She is also a member of Soroptimist International of Garden Grove. She had previously served as a Board Member for the Garden Grove Hospital, an Associate Member of the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival Association, a Board Member of the Grove Theatre Center, and a Board Member for Senior Meals on Wheels.

Supervisor Janet Nguyen has been recognized by the Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff Association for the distinction of being first Vietnamese-American to hold the position of District Director in a state or federal legislator's office. She was awarded the We Give Thanks 2004 Women of Vision Award, which recognizes outstanding women who have provided exceptional services to the community. In addition, the Orange County Register has listed her as one of the "30 Vietnamese Americans To Watch” and she was named one of OC Metro Magazine 2006’s “25 Hottest” People in Orange County.

Born in Saigon, Vietnam. Supervisor Janet Nguyen and her family escaped their homeland on a small wooden 10-meter boat sailing across the South China Sea in search of freedom. After passing through numerous refugee camps, Supervisor Nguyen and her family arrived in California in 1981. She is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. A strong supporter of education, Supervisor Nguyen has taught Princeton Review preparatory courses to students preparing to take the Law Student Admission Test (LSAT).

Lam Pho

Ok, I appreciate that, lets take it one at a time:

<<>>

So she's a member of several great organizations. However, if you talk to the people within those organizations, many will tell you that Janet rarely comes to meetings, does not do much to serve the organization and most of all, they will tell you that Janet uses her memberships to promote her own political agenda. Those organizations just serve as a mean for her to get exposure.

"Supervisor Janet Nguyen has been recognized by the Asian Pacific American Legislative Staff ... She was awarded the We Give Thanks 2004..."

Ok, so she was awarded for providing exceptional services. I would like to know what services were.

"Supervisor Janet Nguyen and her family escaped their homeland on a small wooden 10-meter boat sailing across the South China..."

Boringgg !! So many Vietnamese families went through the same thing or worse.

Lastly and I say this with the utmost sincerity, I appreciate your post and I see that at least you tried to make an argument to support your case.

Lam- thanks for all that sincerity. But the same as others here, you offer much "hearsay" about what Janet does or doesn't do in the organizations she works for or has appointments to. (and I quote you...) "However, if you talk to the people..." so I guess we could ask "which people did you talk to" "where did you hear this from" "where you there" "did you attend the meetings" "were the people talking about her not her supporters but someone who does not support her"...we could conjecture until that hot place freezes over.

What makes me support her the most? Is all the beating she has taken from the Trung camp and how hard they have work to make her look bad. They look like sore losers and very vindictive. What would make me think Trung is qualified to be on the BOS with that kind of character flaw?

Jake

I just figured out who blogger "I" is. Faux Supervisor Janet please stop posting on this blog... Those on the county payroll should not further waste the taxpayer's dollars.
