I've worked in education at both the high school and college level. Colleges are much more efficient and do a better job educating their students because of one factor: competition. Students (and their parents) get to choose where to send their kids to college, or even if they will send them to college, so colleges work hard to provide value. There is simply no accountability in education without competition.

I'm not surprised at Maryanne Rose's comments. This is a woman who was (and apparently still is) a vocal supporter of the Fleming regime in Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD), and we all now know what liars and cheats they are.

Rose supported them even after parents active in the school board recall complained to the Trustees during numerous school board meetings about how their children were retaliated against by Fleming and CUSD officials (all of which fell on deaf ears - Ms. Rose's included).

In CUSD this disease - refusing to acknowledge the truth - is called being "fLemingnized". We parents are still searching for a cure.
