Accompanied by his daughter and his lovely wife, Callista, Newt Gingrich made his sixth visit to the Richard Nixon Library as the latest stop in his national book tour.
The former Speaker spoke to a packed house of passionate political enthusiasts and history buffs inside the East Room, a grand ballroom modeled after the East Room in the White House. Preceding the event was an intimate VIP reception for friends, family, and long time associates of former President Nixon.
Gingrich’s presentation focused on drawing parallels between the challenges faced by the modern day American civilization and those of civilizations past. He reinforced many of his arguments made during his recent conversation with Red County and broadly outlined solutions on national security, immigration, healthcare, education, and energy. As both a student and professor of history, Gingrich offers three valuable lessons: 1.) Intelligence can fail, 2.) You may not understand the culture of your opponent, and 3.) Technology matters
In his latest book, Pearl Harbor, Gingrich and co-author William R. Forstchen detail pre-WWII Japanese culture and give insight into the mindset of Japanese leadership. In the final chapters of the book, the authors provide an “alternative ending” which theorizes what might have happened had key events unfolded differently.
This morning, Gingrich and company are flying to Hawaii to participate in an event with Sean Hannity and Oliver North at Pearl Harbor.
