I'm also tardy in extending congratulations to my friend Phil Tsunoda on his appointment last Wednesday to the Aliso Viejo City Council, filling a vacancy created by the departure of Mayor Cynthia Adams.
I've known Phil for many years, since his days as Anaheim's intergovernmental affairs guru (where he succeeded Kristine Thalman, who is now president of the Building Industry Association of Orange County). Phil eventually followed former Anaheim Mayor Tom Daly to the OC Clerk-Recorder's office, where he serves officially as Director of External Affairs.
Unofficially, Phil's is a kind of buoyant glue among the multifaceted personalities in the public affairs strata of OC's civic culture -- a political bon vivant in the best sense.
Congratulations again, Phil -- I've no doubt you'll prove an excellent councilman.
Why do all the politicans in OC come from the same pool?

Phil is truly one of the good guys. Congratulations Phil!
