This mailer from the pro-Measure X group landed in mailboxes yesterday, paid for by your friendly neighborhood no-growthers at Newport Greenlight:
Who are these NIMBY control freaks? It's beyond me how any rationale person can write an incredibly detailed ordinance in the belief it can successfully, beneficently direct the minutiae of human activity for the next 20 years. The Soviets tried that approach for, oh, 74 years and never managed to get it right.
Listening to these Greenlight II fanatics, one gets the impression they really believe that unless Greenlight II passes and prevent these unpredictable free citizens doing whatever they want, Newport Beach will slide into a miasma of Soylent Greenish degradation.
Rational has nothing to do with it. The support of Joan Irvine says it all. I doubt she has ever done a day's real work in her life. Her only vocations are giving away money she didn't earn and "saving" the rest of us from the ravages of the free market that created her wealth. Apparently, Joan gets grumpy when her limo is stuck in traffic.

I'm for Greenlight II.
How can Hoag Hospital make a political statement and support Measure V by recent letter writing to the citizens of Newport? And recent telephone polls are asking Newport citizens "If Hoag Hospital supports Measure V would you?".
Any money Hoag is spending on supporting Measure V will be taxed, being a non-profit this conduct is against IRS rules.
