I heard through the grapevine that OC Blog compadre Gustavo Arellano is with his agent today in New York, where a dozen or so different publishers will be bidding on his "Ask A Mexican!" book. The expectation is Gustavo will walk away with at least a $500,000 advance.
Way to go, amigo. You deserve it.
Gustavo deserves every penny! I see a movie or T.V. coming next. I do hope he's not meeting with his agent on May 1st though:)

If Antonio Banderas plays him in the movie, I swear to God, I will shoot myself in the face.

Are you playing on your US Gov't owned computer to post to this Blog???
Shame on you!!! Is Blogging now an allowable activity for Federal employees?
Or do you have a Friday off to get ready for anticipated issues come Monday in your District???

Good news for Gustavo!!!
Eh, Carnal, is the Mexican food in New York as good as you can get on 4th Street or is it all funky like in Washington, DC???
Bring us back a Kosher Hot Dog and we will send them a tamale for Sept. 16th...
Congrats, Hombre!!!

Congrats Gustavo on your book deal. That's pretty cool. Nice job on the Mater Dei article too this week. This diocease and Mater Dei need to be shamed into doing the right thing I guess.

Too bad your book does not go on sale on Monday, May 1. Here's to the next NY Times bestselling book/author from the OC! Move over Dean Koontz and Rick Warren...
I review books so please ask your publicist to send me a galley when it's ready.

Don't do it Rebecca. Jump off the G.G. bridge and you might get in a movie too!

Truth be told, we are allowing him a REAL California driver's license.

If Antonio Banderas plays him in the movie, will Gustavo, then, lend his voice to the stuffed nose bee in that commercial for nasal spray?
Great going Gustavo!

What's El Pollo del Mar doing with a book deal when everyone knows Commie Girl is the most entertaining, amusing, quickest pen slinger this side of the 405. She must be livid!
