This just came over the transom from the Claudia Alvarez for Assembly campaign:
California Doctors and Other Healthcare Professionals Endorse Alvarez For Assembly
Santa Ana, CA -- The California Medical Association's CALPAC has endorsed Claudia Alvarez (D-Santa Ana) for the 69th Assembly District.
"I am happy to receive the support of our state's doctors," Alvarez said. "Healthcare is one of my top priorities and doctors are essential to solving our health crisis. Recently, my mother was in the hospital and you could see that we needed more resources put into healthcare. I know reimbursements from the government are low and we need to try and get our fair share so that our residents can get quality healthcare," Alvarez added.
In a recent letter from the Orange County Medical Association, Dr. James Strebig said "The financial contribution of CALPAC is an indication of the support of organized medicine for your candidacy".
Ms. Alvarez has also received support from the California Dental Association and the California Hospital Association.
A report by the California Healthcare Foundation states that over 6.5 million Californians do not have health insurance.
"Healthcare must be accessable and affordable. As a Councilmember, I am leading the fight in Orange County to provide healthcare coverage for our children. When I get to Sacramento, I will work to make sure children throughout California have health insurance and access to dental care," Alvarez concluded.
Let's see...Solorio gets the nurses endorsement and Alvarez gets the Doctors. Don't Doctors have more $$$???

She gets the Dental endorsement too? I'm not surprise...look at her teeth! Very nice.

Doctors for Alvarez---They talk health insurance for all BUT they mean Alvarez will be tough on the trial lawyers.
Nurses for Solorio--They talk health insurance for all BUT they mean Solorio will support low nurse to patient ratios

How much will those endorsements cost Santa Ana citizens?

That's politician speak for:
I wanted to give all the children of illegal aliens free health insurance by increasing your taxes.

Thomas Gordon: You may be right about Alvarez but she's a John Birch Society member compared to Solario. He's a classic Chicano Rights/Viva la Raza Mexican and will give every last tax dollar to his compadres if he can. He trys to keep a low profile with the Gringos regarding his views but don't be fooled. Check out a speech when he speaks to Latinos in Spanish. He's as radical as they come.

Let's hope this somehow tips the scale in favor of Claudia in the primary...the best chance for a Republican to win that seat is to have the Dem be Claudia Alvarez

Solorio was a proud member of the MECHA club at UC Irvine while a student.

Jose was not only a member of the Mecha Club at UCI (Do a goodle search for Mecha Club and have fun learning about the club)I believe he was the President of the Mecha club.

Solorio is a decent fella.
But he tries to be all things to all people. Wishy-washy. Doesn't seem to take many firm stands.

"Solorio is a decent fella.

Which is why I think he is best suited for City Council than the Assembly in Sacramento.

who in this race HAS taken a firm stand on ANYTHING controversial?
Posted by: garzastrip | April 18, 2006 at 08:28 PM
I'm not even talking about "controversial" issues. Jose making a stump speech in front of a chamber or business group seems like a totally different candidate than Jose in front of a Democratic group.
Tailoring your message is one thing, but making conflicting statements will come back to bite you in the @**.
Does he really think that no one is paying attention?

It didn't hurt Bustamante last election when he gave conflicting statements to the Chamber and the Central Labor Council.

A politician, in fact.

Perhaps, but hardly a statesman.

ME.
But I'm not running.
I'm supporting Ryan Gene Williams

If the Doctors and Nurses knew that Jose and Claudia took money from someone who demolished a building and released asbestos and lead into the environment near schools, churches and a daycare center would they still support them?
If the Doctors and Nurses knew that Jose and Claudia took money from a company who owns a brownfield in costa mesa containing TCE with the intent to build residences would they still support them?
Posted by: Thomas Gordon | April 20, 2006 at 08:02 AM
Sadly, Thomas, they still would.
The Nurses Association is closely tied to Jose's Sacramento consultants. And nobody wants to upset the big guy. So when Richie asks one of his clients to endorse/support another client, it's tough to say no. Compare Jose's endorsement list to the client list for Ross Communications for proof.
As for Claudia, her list of PAC contributors is looking a lot like Correa's. Although he's not endorsed her, seems that someone is making calls on her behalf.
Funny that NONE of these groups sought local insight, sent out a questionnaire, or even made any attempt to contact all the candidates. I guess that's their prerogative, but makes their endorsements a bit fishy to me.
Posted by: | April 20, 2006 at 08:48 AM
You're talking out your rear 8:48. The CNA isn't afraid of pissing off anyone, leastr of all Richie Ross. The CNA and most of your major leaguers dont send out "invitations" to come and meet. The candidate reaches out to them. Caludia and Armando didn't do that and Richie did his job by having Jose contact them and then most likely briefing him on their issues.
Nothing fishy about it. Jose just outhusteled the other two for this endorsement.
