Unless Carona's opposition gets its act together soon, Carona will be re-elected. He might be re-elected even if united opposition is created, but I think the chances will be lessened if a viable candidate is supported by a united effort.

$12,536.60 Reasons Why

While driving on the I-5 I was listening to JACK-FM, 93.1 and I heard America's Sheriff recruitment commercial for the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The power of incumbency affords one many opportunities to get his name out in the public in a positive manner without even campaigning.

The truth of the matter is despite what you Carona hatemongers spew, the OCSD is a great Department to work for and I will recommend it as the first law enforcement agency one entering our profession should consider.

We make great money, have great benefits, work with great people and have a great sheriff. He has earned the AOCDS endorsement because every member's professional and personal life has improved greatly under Sheriff Carona's leadership.

For those Hunt supporters, your candidate has let you down by not living up to his word that he would have adequate resources to mount a viable campaign. Candidate Hunt has only $12,536.60 cash on hand and over $28,000 in outstanding debt. America's Sheriff has nearly $1 million cash on hand, name identification and the power of incumbency. Don't take our union backwards by voting for a candidate (Hunt) that can't and won't win

12,000 Excuses,

Answer this one, why the cut & pasting of your same excuses on OC Blog, CC blog, Tin Man blog and perhaps others. If your boy Skippy has it in the bag why all this energy spinning your excuses? Unless.........

Truth Seeker

As of last check the $29,000.00 from Gabbard that Carona "promised" to return, admitting it was a bribe, is still in his war chest. Like most promises Carona makes, he just counts on us forgetting. He already has too.

Way to go CRA.

Hunt's Taxi Service

Here is what $12K buys you in OC elections.
- A really great party when you lose.

Go ahead Bill, order the extra keg, you will need it.

Tim Whitacre

Update on the bogus CRA endorsement for Mike Carona:

I have spoken with the CRA Unit Presidents from Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Fullerton and Garden Grove. All are extremely upset with the procedural maneuver that allowed Carona to obtain an endorsement. They do not believe it should be allowed to stand.

The Fullerton unit was not even notified of the meeting until the same day, in the afternoon. As a result, they were unable to attend.

It is apparent that the meeting was poorly planned and poorly executed, without caucusing the Unit Presidents as to what the format was, or should be. Clearly, Team Carona had deviously lobbied the CRA County Leaders into agreeing to place Carona's name on a list where it didn't belong.

It is obvious that if a properly agendized meeting was clearly communicated to all Units in Orange County, Mike Carona would not receive the endorsement of CRA.

This endorsement should not stand. Incumbents should not enjoy automatic rights to support from any group.

It's time to restore integrity and trust to the Sheriff's Department.

100 Days

And here is what one million dollars buys you.
- A lot of votes.

It's not over till it's over. Orange County is paying more attention each day to the candidates. What a difference a day can make. We'll see whay one hundred can do.

$12,536.60 Reasons Why

Unless what? Hunt hits the lottery. I can almost guarantee that Truth Seeker,Public Bystander, and Lawman have probably collectively contributed no more than $500 to Hunt's dismal campaign.

Here's a question for Little Timmy W.: Where the he** is your $3000.00 contribution? $1500 from you and $1500.00 from your "significant other" In fact, all you Hunt supporters need to answer the question!!!!

You'd all rather sit around and run your mouths, intimidate younger inexperienced deputies to verbally support Hunt in the most obnoxius and rude manner possible, cry about how bad the Sheriff is and how you've suffered under his leadership instead of putting up what makes a difference in a campaign, money.

Come the day after the election, you know it alls will blame conspiracy theories, Schroeder, Fleishman, the CRA, the Republican Party, Organized Labor and AOCDS for the butt kicking that Hunt gets. Well, you've got no one to blame but yourselves for being tightwads or as most believe smart for not spending your dough on a losing cause.

Truth Seeker

Good answer Excuses. Thanks for being so revealing.

Feel free to rant here as much as you like. Name call and accuse us of intimidating but know this. What you call the "younger, inexperienced" are Sheriff's Deputies. These "inexperienced" people are one in 1,000 that make it through the process. They come from many walks of life. As they read your rants you serve our purpose. Team Carona goes after it's goals with intimidation, fear and money.

You bet, vote for Carona, the million dollar man and when you voice an opinion different he'll have his boy 12,000 excuses try and smack you in the face.

Typical political stunt. No wonder you are one of Skippy's minions.

Excuses, tell your boy Skippy that the deputies votes aren't for sale, not for one million or two.

Green Machine

Your whining is unbecoming of a Marine. Suck it up and fight harder. Lately you're beggining to sound like a squid!

Semper Fi Bro

Tim Whitacre

Truth Seeker:

Great response to Richard Cranium, $12,536.
I couldn't have said it better myself.

Green Machine:

I’ve got to admit that one's pretty funny.
I've got your squid right here… :-)

Semper Fi,

Tim Whitacre

Jeff Flint

Hey now, no picking on the "squids."

Jeff "Squid" Flint

(did that sound whiney?) ;-)

Green Machine

Okay...now that we got that out of the way, lets get back to bashing the candidates!

Do you honestly think the CRA will revoke their endorsement? I'm in no position to say what they will or won't do, but I get the feeling there's no going back on that one.

It's probably time to focus on the AOCDS endorsement. I for one am curious to see how it goes. Your side is probably done for if you don't get it, so I'd have to say the pressure is all on Candidate Hunt.

Popeye The Squid

"I'll fight to the finish, cause I'll eat my spinish"

Chesty Puller

I Marine and a Squid are both in the head, answering a stand-up call of nature.

When they each finish they holster thier respective guns (This is my weapon-this is my gun). The Squid walks over to the sink and begans to wash his hands. The Marine heads straight for the door.

The Squid calls out to the Marine, "In the Navy the teach us to wash our hands after we answer the call of nature." The Marine responds, "In the Corps, they teach us not to go on our hands."

You're beginning to read more like Paul Tsongas every day. If you want to be taken for a winner, you gotta quit resembling a sore loser. When an endorsement does not go your way, do not decry the process. Instead, try to figure out went went wrong and improve in those areas that resulted in an unfavorable outcome.

God, I'll bet that someone somewhere has a pool going, the prize being for correctly predicting the excuse you'll give when you lose the next endorsement.

Tim, respond like a winner and others might mistake you for same. Continue to whine and your image will be confirmed in the minds of voters.

Now, let's assume for the sake of argument that the AOCDS endorsement does not go you way. How will you respond? How will your campaign respond?

The most important endorsement in Orange County political circles is that of the Lincoln Club. It is immensely more important that the AOCDS endorsement. Using the same hypothetical methodolgy appearing above, what will be the responses?

Truth Seeker

Why are Carona people on you so much? Why, if what they believe what they say, would they waste their time with a "sore loser?"

You are guilty of standing up for what you believe in, backing it up in public and signing your name. You obviously are driven by your beliefs. I don't think standing on a corner on PCH, wearing a suit and holding a sign is unethical, immoral or against the law, but it sure gets much inked protest here.

That protest is a great form of free speech. To those with insight and morals it also reveals a fear that is based on something that worries them - That Damn Bill Hunt stands for something people actually believe in!

Semper Fi Tim.

Maybe its just that this is a blog and people come here to exchange opinions and ideas. Sometimes its to criticize the techniques of others and occaisionally its just to poke a stick at Tim.

Relax truth

Col. Nathan R. Jessep

Hey TIM. W.

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You don't want the truth because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty... We use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

Tim Whitacre

Stop whining, squids are okay - especially the Corpsmen!

Green Machine:

WILL CRA pull its endorsement? I don't know if the leaders are big enough to admit they made some mistakes... First, in poorly advertising the meeting. Second, in failing to notify the candidates that the agenda was in fact going to be different than advertised, thereby depriving all good conservatives a chance at an open and transparent CRA endorsement opportunity. Third, not even all, active O.C. CRA Units were properly advised of the meeting.

I'm not just "whining" on Bill Hunt's behalf. What about Ralph Martin, what about all the other candidates who were waiting to know when it was time to fill out a questionnaire and come to a meeting?

I do know there's going to be some serious discussion about the endorsement of Carona and the whole meeting in general, at the convention this weekend. No, we won't be there, there's two much work to be done here.

Anonymous at 3:22 AM:

I don't mind losing knowing I've fought the good fight and stood up for the right thing. What I DO mind is any endorsement being given to ANY candidate (even the ones I support), without a transparent, fair process that can withstand public scrutiny.

I want ALL Republican candidates to have the right to be heard from any group or organization that offers endorsements. THEN, even if the candidate(s) I support didn't get the endorsement, we can evaluate the performance, seek feedback from those in attendance and move forward to the next hill. That never happened at CRA. Carona was pre-destined to receive the endorsement in an under-handed way.

Truth Seeker: Thank you. Semper Fi.

Col. Jessup:

Two things:

1. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. Therefore, your diatribe (Jeff should be proud that I knew that word) doesn't apply to me.

I haven't dismissed you yet, SIT DOWN!

2. Didn't your ass wind up in the brig for murder, when all was said and done?

Semper Fi,

Tim Whitacre

Tim Whitacre

Yes, I used "two" instead of "too", my mistake.

anon iii

Little Timmy surfaces spewing hateful messages. You remember the saying 'bout those who live in glass houses, don't 'ya Marine boy?

We've missed your tempter tantrum ridden rants.

anon ii

Oh Lord, Tim, they told me they broke the mold after me...run, Timmy W., run!

Fellow Marine

anon ii is obviously a Carona kool aid drinker. Tim is the only one talking common sense and encouraging Republicans to act principled. Where do you get "spewing hateful messages" from, you loser?

Sure would love to see you call Tim "Marine boy" to his face in the tone you are using...
oh, that's right, you're anonymous, you don't have the balls. By the way, Marines only run in one direction - uphill with their bayonets fixed.

I agree with the last poster about anon ii.
I think to most of us reading this post, Tim Whitacre appears to be the most principled and reasoned responder who actually signs his name. He's calling for fairness across the board for all candidates; not looking for an angle like the Carona campaign.
