After an email I sent to Matt Drudge at 2:56 p.m. asking for a link to one of the many stories on Susan Kennedy, it's good to see he came through (though not in a big way). Check out the left column at the bottom (a metaphor?) to see the link to the Yahoo! News story.
BUT
It's disheartening to see our friends over at The Corner only made one post about this. Here it is:
"ARHNULD DEPRESSES ME [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
SanFranChronicle:
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger -- attempting to regain his political footing after a devastating special election defeat this month -- has begun a shakeup of his administration by replacing his chief of staff with a former state Democratic Party official and top adviser to former Gov. Gray Davis, Democratic and Republican sources said Tuesday.
The hiring of Susan Kennedy, widely respected by both Democrats and Republicans in Sacramento as a workhorse operative for Davis, is expected to be announced officially as early as today. The move could kick off major protests from conservative Republicans.
Appointed by Davis to the California Public Utilities Commission in 2003, Kennedy had made her name as a political operative as the head of the California branch of the National Abortion Rights Action League. A longtime gay rights activist, Kennedy married her partner, Vicki Marti, in a 1999 ceremony in Hawaii attended by many California political insiders.

The rest of the day was either spent moaning about American policies on torture or praising the President's speech on Iraq. Redundancy wasn't in short supply. It seems to me we're truly cut off out here. I feel like the poll results just came in after the Spanish parliamentary elections.
UPDATE: Here's not one, not two, but three thoughtful posts on the Governor-Kennedy connection over at the Claremont Institute's Local Liberty Blog.
Governor Schwarzenegger's stated reasons for hiring Susan Kennedy are that she is a workhorse, "long hours," until job is done, etc., and that she knows the job. This attribute counts zero, unless one is working to produce worthy results. What is missing is a listing of accomplishments or participation in efforts that benefited Californians, contributions that distinguish her. What might she list as her public policy "successes?" Unfortunately, since the depressing news of this appointment, this screen name which is generally descriptive of my outlook, will be inaccurate until further notice.

Governor Schwarzenegger's stated reasons for hiring Susan Kennedy are that she is a workhorse, long hours until job is done, and that she knows the job. Such qualifications count ZERO, unless the work is aimed at accomplishing something worthy. A more revealing resume would list those public policy successes to which she contributed. How have her taxpayer-paid positions benefited the average Californian? A listed ability to "get things done" is meaningless without describing those things. Sadly, since the depressing news of this appointment, my screen name will not be descriptive until further notice.

You have to love George Skelton's line in today's LAT;
"But Schwarzenegger considered Kennedy the best available. And what's that say to Republicans? That none is worthy?"
Man. That's gotta hurt.

Arnold already has one Kennedy running his life/career. He doesn't need another. Dump Susan.
