Silence Dogood hipped us to the story headlined on the Drudge Report this afternoon: Calif. May Build Tunnel in Quake Region. Unfortunately, the AP didn't report when Ms. DeYoung received her Civil Engineering degree:
"It's absolutely absurd to have a tunnel 700 feet below ground in earthquake country," said Cathryn DeYoung, mayor of Laguna Niguel and a vocal opponent. "I mean, would you want to be in that tunnel?"
CBS also did a piece on the Evening News just now on the tunnel, but didn't ask Cassie for her opinion of TNT vs. nitroglycerin or her expertise on boring techniques.
CBS also reported the tunnel would cost $3 billion vs. the AP's $9 billion figure.
Update -- here's a screen shot:
Your Drudge link has one too many http's in it.
Why is the byline "Aliso Viejo"?
Why is Karl Warkomski quoted? Maybe the AP only knows Green Party members.

good work here Lurk and other ocbloggers. Transparent crap from the Irvine company. Got emails from friends nationwide, most wondering why this was news, most puzzled by why CA would tolerate 90 minute wait to travel six miles - no tunnel fear, so sorry.
