of his Chief of Staff.
Kudos to Jon Fleischman for scooping the MSM on the appointment of former Democrat Party ED and Gray Davis honcho Susan Kennedy as his new Chief of Staff, replacing former Wilson-Administration deputy COS Pat Clarey. Capitol Weekly's John Howard quickly followed Jon's news with some of his own - with quotes from incredulous Reps on the Governor's march leftward.
Tonight's news raises two interesting questions. To wit:
1. When, Jon, will you and other Republican appointees send this Governor a message that the tack to the left is unacceptable and resign your appointment?
2. Is this just the latest example of how the MSM is losing its relevance in bringing news forward and continuing to lose ground to blogs and other Internet information sources?
Hmmm...
Your suggestion #1 is hilarious.
As much as I admire all the fine work Jon performs, I can't see him giving up the free travel and per diem just for the sake of principle.
I wouldn't.

Should this turn out to be factual, those like myself who voted for Tom McClintock won't be surprised and hold the proverbial "I told you so" in our back pockets.

Republicans need to revolt and do to her what we did to Harriet Miers.
I want to hear from Dick Ackerman and Kevin McCarthy. Are you going to stand up for principle, against this Gov. on this issue?

I think we need to relax here, and be careful not to jump to conclusions. Clarey's strategy has obviously not had much success in Sacramento; now I thought going over the legislature's heads via the initiative process was the right thing for a popular governor who is being stonewalled to do. But it clearly did not work. So instead Arnold brings in a Democrat and decides to try a new approach-- that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to transform into a liberal.
Think of it this way, after getting stunned-- twice-- by the conservatives, Bill Clinton twice turned around and brought in REPUBLICAN handlers (David Gergen and Dick Morris) to get him back on course. Both times it worked. But would any of us here consider Clinton any less of a liberal because of the strategy he employed?
In this case, I think it's the ends and not the means that we need to consider.

He does not need to transform, he is a liberal.

It isn't free.
