John Campbell keeps racking up the anti-tax group endorsements -- his campaign just announced his endorsement by the grandaddy of the anti-tax groups, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association:
Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association PAC Endorses John Campbell for Congress
(ORANGE COUNTY, CA): The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association Pac has announced their endorsement of John Campbell for United States Congress in the 48th district Special Election.
“John Campbell is a proven tax-fighter and one of our best friends in the California Legislature,” said Jon Coupal, President of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. “We need John Campbell working for us in Washington, D.C., where he can take on the big spenders who threaten the economic well-being of our country.”
Senator Campbell is running in the October 4 Special Election called by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to fill the vacancy created by the resignation from Congress of Chris Cox. President Bush appointed Cox as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
“I am very pleased to receive the support of a group with whom I have worked and that I have long admired,” said Campbell. “The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association is at the forefront when it comes to protecting taxpayers and reducing wasteful government spending.”
The Jarvis endorsement comes in the wake of several other key endorsements racked up by Campbell in recent days, including Club for Growth and the Free Enterprise Fund PAC.
This is one of those endorsements that actually matters. The HJTA slate is one of the better ones and still possesses pull in an increasingly flooded sea o' slates. The HJTA has maintained its credibility and visibility over the years as the state's leading anti-tax group, and it's leader, Jon Coupal has been a frequent columnist in the OCR editorial pages for years.
Who is balking at John Campbell at this point?
No one seems to be holding out for alternatives.
There will probably be meetings for some of the grassroots organizations that endorse in the next couple weeks. Do any of the other candidates have a chence to mix things up for Campbell?

Marilyn was staunchly anti tax in the Assembly. She voted just like Ackerman and fiscal issues. How kind of HJ to reward that approach to policy by endorsing her opponent. Where is HJ's purity when it comes to opposing tax dollars for illegal aliens?

That endorsement is for sale to the highest bidder and everybody knows it!

Brewer thinks that the only criteria for being a fiscal conservative is being anti-tax. Being anti-tax alone is not good enough. Brewer was one of the biggest spenders in Sacramento and it is over-spending that leads to tax increases.

To a certain extent, aren't all endorsements.

Jarvis lost it's credibility when it endorsed Arnold over Tom McClintock.

"To a certain Extent aren't all endorsements"
Well then they don't mean a damn thing except that the candiate can afford them.
