The election is over and Fullerton voters in their widsom saw fit to give Mayor Mike Clesceri more time to enjoy his tax-free $58,000 stress disability pension -- free of the worries and pressures of governing the jewel of north Orange County.
Still, I wanted to post a couple of Clesceri-related items I had previously missed.
First, this item fromFrank Mickadeit's November 9 column:
D.A. Tony Rack did leave last week's Republican Party gala early, as I reported, but then returned - after my column had gone to press. I ran into him leaving (for the second time) after midnight and he was nice enough to confirm a story Mike Schroeder told me about outgoing Fullerton Mayor Mike Clesceri (defeated Tuesday) ordering an elaborate "Employee of the Year"-type trophy for himself while he was a supervisor in the D.A.'s office. His bosses only found out after Clesceri went out on leave - and they were sent the $250 invoice from the trophy maker.
Geez - what kind of guy does that?
Then there's another one from the Orange County Register (don't know the date):
As the Sister City group baords Korean Airlines Flight 012, it becomes immediately apparent how much we will not blend in on this trip.
Aside from four members from Grace Ministries, all born in Korea and now Fullerton residents, group is mostly non-Korean and mostly white.
And along with a group of Cincinnati Bengal cheerleaders -- called the Ben-Gals, on their way to entertain U.S. troops stationed in South Korea -- we stand out among the many first- and second-generation Korean-Americans going back to visit their native land.
We elicit many curious looks and friendly questions about why we are headed to Korea. I sit next to Dick Jones' brother, Jack Jones, who joined us from Houston, taking the place of Mayor Mike Clesceri, who canceled because of nagging health concerns.
- Eric Carpenter, Orange County Register
Now, the obvious question is: If Clesceri couldn't even take a plane flight because of his mondo acid reflux, how could he have possibly served as a councilman for another four years?
