And the OCYR Endorsement goes to...

After one chaotic hour and nine motions later, the Orange County Young Republicans voted to endorse the following candidates for the upcoming June Primary election:

33 Senate District: Mimi Walters

35 Senate District: No Endorsement (at this time)

60 Assembly District: Larry Dick

71 Assembly District: No Endorsement (at this time)

I will have a full commentary later about OCYR's bizarre endorsement process in a different post.  A congratulation is also in order for the candidates who received this group's support tonight.

AD71 Watch: Candidates Compete in CRA Debate

Last night the California Republican Assembly organized the first candidate debate for the 71 Assembly District election.  All the announced candidates participated in the debate, which was moderated by Mike Spence.  Kudos to George Andrews, the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Orange County and his assistant for setting up the room.

Since this is a CRA debate held for Republicans in a GOP primary, naturally all the candidates espouses nothing but conservative philosophy and do not differ very much from each others on the issues of tax, gun control, illegal immigration, etc.

However, Jeff Miller, a Corona Councilman, was more charismatic than the rest.  He highlighted some of his pass accomplishments including the passage of Jessica's Law and strong support for the California Border Police Initiative.

"Neil Blais is a proven leader who will fight to ensure law enforcement and public safety are priorities in Sacramento, including a state budget that solves our current prison crisis," said Sheriff Carona.  "Neil will also protect the 3-strikes law from those who would water it down, and he'll work to keep hardened criminals behind bars, rather than being released early back into our communities.  His leadership has helped to make Rancho Santa Margarita one of the safest cities in the state.  Neil Blais has a ‘can-do' attitude, and he makes good things happen.  That's why I support him."
