The Crystal Ball: 72nd AD Update
Everyone knows Yorba Linda Councilman Mike Duvall and his father-in-law's money are running for Lynn Daucher's Assembly seat. What is not so widely known is that Daucher has introduced Duvall at several GOP Caucus lunches at the Capitol.
Members can bring guests to speak at Caucus lunches and apparently Lynn has been gracious enough to let Mike say a few words to her colleagues. Lots of OC GOP types have problems with Daucher and her lack of conservative values-she was after all elected by Democrats (the one election that allowed them to vote in our Primary).
Duvall has a big mouth and talks the talk, but no one is really sure he is conservative at heart.
So the question is, if Daucher is willing to promote him, how conservative can he be?
Sacramento consultant Dave Gilliard is on board to help Duvall. Gilliard was also consultant of record for ultra-bad idea candidate and Clinton supporter Christi Christich who lost to Chuck DeVore in 04. Could Gilliard be turning soft on us (he used to represent conservatives)?
At least one other candidate is out there. Watch for a fresh face with money to challenge the status quo and give Duvall's wife's father's money a run. More on that soon...
Fullerton mayor Shawn Nelson is said to be serious about running. He's done some good work in Fullerton as far as accountability goes, but he needs more schooling on the evils of Redevelopment.

Nelson is out. Totally out. No question on that one. The party pushed him out in favor of Duvall.
Siminoff from Brea is considering a run.
And a relative unknown from Placentia ( and NO not Chris Lowe, he is out) is considering a run...but how well can a staffer do in a race against political names? We will have to see.
My vote is for Marty.

Those well-known liberals Dick Ackerman, Ed Royce and Gary Miller are all supporting Duvall.

I'm always skeptical when I read phrases like "conservative at heart". Can you define what you mean by conservative?

Conservative: An person who believes that government is not the solution to most problems, who believes taxes are already too high and must be cut (at all levels) to help the economy and more specifically the people and businesses that are taxed, who may or may not believe homosexuality is wrong but believes marriage is between a man and a woman, who believes abortion is wrong all the time, who believes the social ills of our society are largely based on the break-down of the family unit and that families and religious institutions and non-profit organizations funded by well intentioned citizens can better handle fixing those ills than legislations from the seat of government. And MOST important, someone who will VOTE based on these principles ALL THE TIME.
Anyone else care to add to this?

>>Anyone else care to add to this?<<
Please let me know when one of those is present.
When I see GOP groups stop feeding at the public trough they so readily despise. When I see so called GOP business folks stop bidding on govt. contracts, and GOP legislators turn their paychecks back into whatever public coffers that pay them.
When I see the so called conservative areas stop receiving more in tax monies than they pay, and vice versa for the liberal areas. When I see conservatives stop asking for tax breaks, import tariff protection, or stop applying for govt patronage positions. When I see so called conservative areas have a lower divorce rates, and lower rates of children born out of wedlock than the so called immoral liberal areas this post might actually have some substance.
Until then. It is more of the usual two faced conservative version of
Bovine Scatology.
